Join the community of Kenyon families
A warm welcome to all Kenyon parents, both current and prospective. As the co-chairs of the 2012-13 Kenyon College Parents Advisory Council, it is our pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all Kenyon parents and a heartfelt "welcome aboard" to the parents of the Class of 2016.
In the time my daughter and son have been at Kenyon, they have embraced all that the Kenyon community has to offer. Our family has come to realize since arriving at Kenyon, both Kathleen and Alex have grown in numerous ways and that Kenyon has been a tremendous and positive influence on their lives. The challenging and superior academic environment, the strong relationships with top notch faculty, the beautiful campus filled with historic buildings, the small town community feel, and the countless opportunities for students to get involved all add up to an transformative college experience.
This is my fifth year participating with the Parents Advisory Council and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know other Kenyon parents, members of the Administration and the students. The College offers many opportunities for all of us to get involved. Each October, parents are invited to Family Weekend where they can attend classes with their sons and daughters, eat in the dining halls, enjoy concerts, drama productions, student presentations, athletic events and a reception with faculty. We invite you to attend the Parents Advisory Council general and committee meetings that take place during Family Weekend where we discuss issues important to the College. Parents may also get involved by participating in "Learning in the Company of Friends: The Kenyon Lifelong Learning Program," which sponsors talks by College faculty members and administrators in major metropolitan areas around the country. Also, parents are offered a number of ways in which they can help Kenyon achieve its goals from assisting the admissions staff by hosting holiday parties or talking with prospective parents to providing advice for the College's students through the career-counseling program.
The links on this page can guide you to information you will find particularly helpful as a Kenyon parent. The Useful Contacts page includes a broad range of information, including contact information on sending packages and a list of area businesses that can deliver cakes, flowers, or other treats to your student. Please consult the academic calendar for Orientation, Family Weekend, and Commencement dates, as well as the schedule for residence hall openings and closings during the academic year.
Kenyon is a stronger institution because it values and understands the benefits of involving one of its strongest resources - the parents! I hope you will consider joining us as an active parent and member of the Kenyon College community.
