The Office of Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion serves as a resource to students, staff, faculty, and community members alike. Our office oversees several groups whose missions include creating a more diverse, open, inclusive, accepting, equitable, and affirming campus environment. The organizations that have a direct reporting line to the ODEI are below.
Composed of faculty members, administrators, and students, the Diversity Advisory Council (DAC) meets throughout the academic year to assess the state of diversity at Kenyon. Underlying the council’s work is a commitment to fostering a campus environment where all individuals, whatever their origin or intended destination, can pursue personal and intellectual goals. The Council for Diversity and Social Justice is a coalition of student leaders from Kenyon’s multicultural organizations. This council serves as a bridge between the student organizations and departments within it, a network for student leaders who seek to cultivate respectful tolerance, combat social injustice, and address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Kenyon. We are a unified front of diverse, multicultural, and ethnic groups on campus. Collectively, we will be able to achieve what may otherwise have been difficult for us to achieve by ourselves.
Kenyon College Discrimination Advisors are a group of students, faculty, and staff, who have received training to informally assist with cases of group-based discriminatory harassment. They are passionate about the value of difference in all forms on Kenyon’s campus, and about challenging any form of discrimination or oppression based on a person’s race, ethnicity, sex, gender, sexuality, nationality, physical/mental ability, religion, or socio-economic background.
To this end, Discrimination Advisors commit to hosting open office hours, develop programming, respond to incidents on campus in conjunction with others campus constituents, attend all necessary training and meetings, and always represent and carry out the mission of the Discrimination Advisors.
Unlike peer counselors and sexual misconduct advisors, Discrimination Advisors do not have confidentiality in Title IX cases and must report incidents of sexual misconduct. Any person who believes s/he is a victim of discriminatory harassment should consider bringing the situation to the attention of one of the DA advisors or to the Civil Rights Coordinator, Andrea Goldblum.
Throughout the year, the ODEI regularly collaborates with diverse student organizations on cultural, awareness, and celebratory month/events that the office oversees, such as LGBTQ Awareness, Women’s History, Black History, Native American Heritage, Latino Heritage, etc. These groups fill the calendar with performances, lectures, dinners, discussions, and festivals.

Student Accessibility Support Services (SASS) coordinates the provision of academic accommodations for students with disabilities.
