Girls' Science Saturdays
Girls' Science Saturdays is a unique opportunity for the girls of Knox County to experience science. We inspire interest in the physical sciences by providing a fun and encouraging environment to learn and practice scientific thought. Led by Kenyon College students and scientists, participants will use cutting-edge techniques to explore new ideas and learn scientific methods used in contemporary scientific research. You'll definitely learn something new - and build some pretty neat stuff too!
Available to all middle school girls (grades 6-8). The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and goes until 1:30 p.m. Registration is free, and lunch will be provided.
Chemistry All Around You
Saturday, February 9, 2013
9:00 am-1:30 pm (Lunch is provided.)
KABOOM! Come see the hidden powers of common household items. How can you tell if a liquid has enough acid in it to burn through a table? You don't want to touch it to find out, but a food in your fridge can tell you. We'll find the hidden destructive power of gummy bears, and make and eat delicious instant ice cream. Come learn how chemistry can be cool!
Registration for the February 9, 2013, session is now closed. If you would like us to put your name on a waiting list, please email Connie Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will contact you if we have any cancellations.
Check out what the girls did during the October session.....
Robotics All Around You
Saturday, October 27, 2012
9:00 am- 1:30 pm (Lunch is provided.)
Robots and robotics are around us all the time, busily working away. Big, complicated ones were used to build your stove, car, and fridge, and now small ones are hard at work keeping them running. This Saturday, we will build and program robots ourselves! We will explore our ability to make robots interact with the environment around them. See the fun of robotics yourself!*******
