Join the community of Kenyon families

A warm welcome to all Kenyon parents, both current and prospective. As the co-chairs of the 2011-12 Kenyon College Parents Advisory Council, it is our pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all Kenyon parents and a heartfelt "welcome aboard" to the parents of the Class of 2015.

When our daughter decided to attend Kenyon three years ago, we were well aware of the serious scholarship and sense of community that permeated the student body. What we did not appreciate-but have come to revere-is that Kenyon parents, too, share that sense of community, principally through the Kenyon Parents Association which, since 1968, has connected Kenyon parents not just to their children and other parents, but also to the faculty, administration and staff that comprise the Gambier community. It is, we believe, a special community.

We urge you to consider involving yourself in the work of the Parents Association. We enclose materials that describe the opportunities that are available, including Family Weekend on October 14 to 16, regional parent volunteer opportunities, and the Parents Advisory Council. As we enter our fourth year of membership on the Parents Advisory Council, we can tell you, firsthand, that our involvement has been worthwhile and fulfilling.

The links on this page can guide you to information you will find particularly helpful as a Kenyon parent. The Useful Contacts page includes a broad range of information, including contact information on sending packages and a list of area businesses that can deliver cakes, flowers, or other treats to your student. Please consult the academic calendar for Orientation, Family Weekend, and Commencement dates, as well as the schedule for residence hall openings and closings during the academic year.

We believe that you will be surprised by the richness of your experience as Kenyon parents. You will find an extraordinary sense of collegiality if you choose to become actively involved in the Parents Association. We hope you will consider joining us as active parents and members of the Kenyon College community.
