Members of the Knox County community will have an opportunity to preview the new Kenyon College Wright Center, 400 S. Main Street, during this year’s Mount Vernon Christmas Walk, held Sunday, Nov. 27.
Spectators for the Christmas Parade, starting at 2:30 p.m., are invited to watch the parade from the parking lot of the Wright Center, which will be transformed into a viewing area. Refreshments, including hot cider, will be served. Domino’s Pizza will welcome Kenyon College to downtown Mount Vernon by offering free pizza and brownies at the Wright Center parking lot before and during the parade, while supplies last.
Following the parade, the first floor of the Wright Center will open to the public until 5 p.m. Staff members from SPI will be available to answer questions, as will members of Kenyon’s Office for Community Partnerships and other Kenyon representatives. Both offices will be located in the building following its official opening, expected in January.
Design plans for the entire building also will be on display during the event. The second and third floors of the building, which will not be open for the Christmas Walk, eventually will serve as the home of Kenyon’s film department.
“As renovation progresses at the Wright Center, we are excited to offer the community a very special opportunity for the sneak peek everyone so desires,” said Jennifer Odenweller, director of community partnerships at Kenyon College.
“This is an exciting time for the College, as we get closer to making the move to downtown Mount Vernon. We are so happy that our soon-to-be neighbors are excited, too,” Odenweller added.
