Nikole Hotchkiss came to Kenyon in 2009, after receiving her Ph.D. from Indiana University. Her research and teaching interests focus on the intersection of law, politics, and culture, specifically regarding national security and counterterrorism development. Her disserttion was entitled, Taking Aim: A Comparative Study of Target Group Construction and the Formation of Contemporary Counterterriorism Policies in France and the United States. Her current work focuses on media discourse of national security, the construction of terrorist threat, and a comparison of hate crime and terrorism law and enforcement.
