Dear Fellow Alumni:
Think of your years at Kenyon, and odds are pretty good that what will come to mind first will be friends, be they students, faculty, coaches, or staff. Gambier would not have been (or be) the same without the contributions of the remarkable people who come together to form the Kenyon Community. The appeal of Middle Path on a bright fall day or Peirce bathed in the glow of a sunset was our secret for so many years. Now that Forbes Magazine, thebestcolleges.org, Buzzfeed, and others have all recognized that Kenyon is one of the most beautiful campuses on the planet, the secret is out.
As students at Kenyon, we all benefitted from the support of those who came before us and supported the College through their gifts to the Kenyon Fund. Those gifts helped reduce the cost of the education we all received, by supporting faculty salaries, maintenance of the campus, financial aid, and generally supporting the cost of providing a Kenyon education.
The alumni, who supported Kenyon when we were students, asked nothing of us. They gave with the hope that we would take advantage of what Kenyon had to offer and be better for having had the opportunity.
We can all be proud of the remarkable facilities, students, faculty, and entire community that is Kenyon today.
We can also be proud of the incredible support for Kenyon given by the alumni who volunteer their time and talent to assist with admissions, career services, class reunions, regional programs; to serve as class agents; or to serve on the Board of Trustees, Alumni Council, or the Kenyon Fund Executive Committee, and through their annual gifts to the Kenyon Fund.
For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013, Kenyon alumni, employees, friends, and other members of the community contributed over $3,450,000 to the Kenyon Fund (the endowment would need to increase by over $75,000,000 to generate that income). Thank you!
This year as Sean Decatur begins his term as the 19th president of Kenyon College, I hope that you will join us in continuing the tradition of strong alumni support and renew your contribution to the Kenyon Fund.
