Hope College will be offering a 3-day institute this summer, July 23-26, 2017. The IDDE Institute will focus on:
The institute will also emphasize pedagogy and experiential learning allowing participants to develop specific practical tools and exercises that they can then use in their own courses and campus programs. Sending institutional teams of two to three persons is recommended.
Some of you are from universities where we have conducted on-site trainings. The content covered in this Institute will be very similar; if you have colleagues who were unable to attend our on-campus training, you might consider sending them to the Hope IDDE Summer Institute. Register now.
Please note: This is not a GLAA-sponsored event, and the GLCA/GLAA is not providing funding to attend.

Scientific inquiry is a global enterprise and its benefits are manifold. However, despite this, the sciences have unfortunately been sorely underrepresented in campus wide internationalization efforts. To remedy this, the GLCA is hosting a new summer workshop in June 2017 to build an international community of science faculty at liberal arts colleges. The goal is to help faculty share ideas, resources, and enthusiasm about teaching and learning in the science. See the call below. The deadline for submission is before Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Preference will be given to two person themes, although this is not a requirement.
A four-day workshop for science and engineering faculty from the Global Liberal Arts Alliance will be held at Deree — The American College of Greece on June 18-21, 2017. The goal of the workshop is to build an international community of science faculty at liberal arts colleges who share ideas, resources, and enthusiasm about teaching and learning in the sciences. Growing a faculty community necessitates face-to-face engagement, and this workshop will provide the first opportunity for us to come together.
The Alliance will cover airfare, lodging, and most meals. The final workshop schedule will be partly determined by the interests and needs of the participants, but some workshop topics will be:
To apply to the workshop, please complete the workshop application form before Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Preference will be given to two-person teams, but that is not a requirement.
We look forward to working with you!
