In response to requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Kenyon will modify the student insurance program for the 2015-16 academic year. We are still in negotiations with the insurance company about the plan design and cost of the plan for the upcoming year; however, the following represents how the final plan and pricing is expected to look. Details about the new student insurance plan will be provided well in advance of the tuition payment due date.
This component of the program will automatically cover all full-time students as of August 15, 2015, or the first day the student arrives on campus, whichever is later. The plan will cover any accident which occurs, including sports-related injuries, at 100% up to $5,000 per injury. The cost of this plan is included in the Student Health & Counseling Center fee appearing on the tuition statement.
The annual cost of this voluntary insurance plan is expected to be about $1,400 and would be collected via the tuition payment process. If you do not wish to enroll in the plan, an online waiver form is used to opt out of the program, just like the process used today and in past years. Here are the main plan design features:
