In response to requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Kenyon now offers a more comprehensive student insurance program for the 2017-18 academic year.
Accident only insurance will automatically cover all full-time students as of August 15, 2017 and will continue through August 14, 2018. The cost of this plan is included in the Student Health & Counseling Center Fee appearing on the tuition statement each semester.
Plan Cost and Benefit Period: The annual cost of the Optional Student Health Insurance - Plan 2 for the 2017-18 academic year is $1,310.00. The annual fee will be charged one-time each year on the fall semester tuition and fees billing statement. Coverage begins on August 15, 2017 and will continue through August 14, 2018.
Waiver: If you have other comparable insurance coverage and you do not wish to enroll in the optional health insurance plan offered by the College, you must complete an online waiver form prior to the first day of fall semester classes at www.studentplanscenter.com. The waiver period begins on July 16, 2017 and ends on August 24, 2017.
Please pay close attention to the waiver deadline of August 24, 2017. Federal regulations of the ACA do not allow for any waiver exceptions after the beginning of classes. ACA regulations, enforced by the IRS and administered by an independent insurance company state that the insurance must be in effect for one year, therefore coverage can not be waived after the August 24, 2017 deadline. If you do not waive the coverage by the waiver date, you will be responsible for payment, no exceptions.
