Bob has been a member of a rock band, country band, and a bluegrass band. In July 2002 he played with a big band that performed a Duke Ellington tribute at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield, Ohio. In addition to playing solo guitar, he is one half of the duo "Sam and Bob." He is also a member of the group "The Caffiends."

He has owned and operated a custom guitar teaching business via mail order. The individualized teaching focused on his transcriptions of songs submitted by customers and students; his many arrangements for solo guitar, and various theory presentations on cassette tapes.
