Robert E. Bennett

Professor Emeritus of Classics

Robert Bennett served on Kenyon's faculty from 1967 to 2006. He taught Greek and Latin, Greek and Roman history, and mythology. In addition, Bennett's classes explored the roles played by gender and religion in the ancient world. His research interests range from Plutarch, to the Greek god Hephaistos, and the Cappadocian Fathers. From 1990 to 2004 he edited Humanitas, the journal of the Ohio Classical Conference, and served as the conference's President in 2002 and 2003. Bennett served the College as an Associate Provost and regularly chaired the Classics Department. In retirement, he conducts informal reading groups in ancient Greek and Latin.
