We strongly encourage our students to gather as much information as possible about their host country. In fact, one of the most frequent comments by OCS students is that they wish they had been better prepared for their program. In addition to consulting the information and resources available on our webpage and those listed below, students should consider practical aspects of living abroad, such as:
Health & Safety
The US State Department website provides extensive information for people living abroad. We strongly encourage students and parents to consult the State Department Travel Warnings available on this website. The consular information sheets also provide complete, concise country descriptions.
The Centers for Disease Control Travel website contains information on health concerns and precautions for travelers. Please consult the CDC website for information on necessary vaccinations and medications.
Lonely Planet's website provides basic travel information about most countries, though it is geared more towards tourists than students going for an extended stay.
The CIA World Factbook provides extensive information about every country in the world.
