The concentration in Comparative World Literature provides the opportunity to study literature with an interdisciplinary and global perspective. Venturing beyond national and disciplinary boundaries, students have the opportunity to study literature as an international phenomenon.
At the same time, the concentration allows students to delve into literature’s social and political contexts and explore cross-disciplinary issues. The concentration encourages students to create—in consultation with their advisors—an individualized curriculum that best fits their interests.
The classes offered by the concentration complement advanced coursework in English and Modern Languages and Literatures. Students must demonstrate the ability to read literature in a foreign language. Study Abroad is strongly encouraged.
