If you have concerns about your classes, Kenyon's Office of Academic Advising is the place to go for questions relating to academics or special learning needs. They are the folks who support you in your academic pursuits, work with administrators and faculty on issues that might come up, and have all the information on scholarships, fellowships, and post-graduate awards.

Jane Martindell, the Dean for Academic Advising and Support, is our resident expert when it comes to counseling first-year students. Jane and her staff work with you to make sure your time at Kenyon is just what you'd hoped it would be, so when you leave you'll be ready to succeed on whatever path you've chosen.

One of the first steps in charting your academic path is to talk with a faculty advisor. Faculty advisors take part in new student orientation every fall to help answer questions about classes and scheduling. Once you declare a major, you'll choose a faculty advisor from your major's department. This advisor will help you plan your course of study and challenge you to seek new experiences outside your department. Many students find that their advisors become lifelong friends.

If you've already got your sights set on a career in architecture, business, education, law, library, the ministry and theology, psychology and social work, teaching, or healthcare, our pre-professional advisors can work with you. Information sessions are held throughout the year--including during new student orientation.

One of the best ways to get to know Kenyon (and to get the inside scoop on classes and professors) is to connect with your upper-class counselor. As a new student, you'll be partnered with a student who can answer your questions about Kenyon and show you the ropes. Like a student counselor, a peer tutor can be one of your best assets when you find yourself challenged by a class or subject. Our peer tutors know their subjects inside out. They also understand the classes, the professors, and study habits that work.
