Kenyon College has a responsibility to pursue green energy initiatives and implement such programs as they become available. One of the biggest steps that Kenyon will take in the coming years to reduce its carbon footprint is changing the sources of energy on campus. Currently, electricity at Kenyon is mostly from natural gas (about 70%); while the rest comes from wind, solar and coal. Sustainability Director Ed Neal is confident that these statistics will change as Kenyon moves towards a more sustainable future.
The most important contribution students and faculty can make to combat the use of dirty energy on campus is simply to reduce electricity use.
